Who is eligible?
Constituted Community Groups; Voluntary Organisations; Micro and Small
Businesses sharing the aims and objectives of LEADER +; public sector
bodies such as Local Authorities; Local Enterprise Companies; Scottish
Natural Heritage; Forest Enterprise and Area Tourist Boards.
What areas are eligible?
The Programme will be available throughout Argyll and the Isles and
Lochaber LEC areas, including parts of Argyll & Bute Council, Highland
Council and North Ayrshire Council
What sort of projects are eligible?
Projects supporting sustainable community-based development
of the coastal and island areas of Argyll, the Islands (including Arran
and the Cumbraes) and Lochaber, enabling them to make best use of the
outstanding natural heritage of the area and improve the quality of life
of the residents, will be eligible for support.
Which projects are ineligible?
There are a number of activities and expenditures that are wholly
ineligible for support under LEADER+. These are outlined below:
· housing, health, social work, school (main curriculum) and higher
education, as the EU has no remit in these areas
· routine repairs or maintenance
· projects which merely replace an existing facility or scheme
· works which are required to meet statutory UK/Scottish legislation
or EU directives
· social welfare facilities although there is scope to improve
access to childcare
· works of sculpture and other forms of civic art are not eligible
for Leader+ support
· improvements to general security and safety of towns and villages
such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) are also ineligible.
